Have you every wanted to freshen up your house? As in give it some life, or place something organic against the man made?
Well I tried kids….that didn’t quite work…they just mess it up constantly!
Pets are out/outside. Period.
Perhaps an indoor plant could help me? Hmmmm…
Or a few….
Ahhhh and there you have it!
Happy, green, bright, love, all day long, with only water and some fertiliser in return!
Bargain!!!
But seriously, I really do love plants! And gardens! And flowers! And fresh produce!
It would be my dream to live in on a property with a huge veggie garden, orchard and lots of flowers…. (but close to the city and beach of coarse – I can dream right?!) ??????????????
Anyway…here is my attempt at indoor plants… (the kids and I spent so many, many hours at Bunnings ? and made the biggest mess imaginable! ?♀️)
The whole thing started because we inherited those two incredible blue-grey urns in the photo above. What was I to do?
So….here are the plants I chose:
This is a Calathea, known for it’s beautiful leaves…
I had this urn from some dead succulents (who kills succulents?!), so I chose an Emerald Ripple Peperomia as I love the deep green and the incredible ripples!
For the two urns I bought Boston Macho Ferns, as they will grow to have body, and also cascade over the edge…
I actually planted two in each to give a more immediate effect, but can’t wait until they are bigger!!!
This one is a Dwarf Fiddle Leaf Fig, which I love for it’s colour and structure. Apparently they are very ‘in’ right now….
And lastly, I love, love, love ivy, but it’s also a bit scary…if it climbs up the wall and eats your house…
So I just got it for a hanging basket in the kitchen…hopefully it will cascade over the edge and just be magical!
This is the basket outside still…
On that note…I can’t wait to do the front verandah…
Perhaps if the plants are still alive in a month or two, I’ll attempt it!
