Isn’t she the most beautiful Christmas Angel you’ve ever seen?!
Yesterday our little family put up our Christmas tree, amidst humid conditions and spikey fake pine needles. Not my favourite combination. But I do love the tradition of putting up the decorations each year, and I’ve been so excited to do it with the twins now that they are able to talk and understand things so much more!
Their first Christmas at 8 months old was lovely, but not a huge deal for them and the tree was relatively safe. Last Christmas, they were walking and almost leaving the decorations alone, but not quite….(the baubles were everywhere, but they were starting to learn)
This year, they are able to talk, understand and learn more and more. They know it’s Christmas time, there is a star on top of the tree, and it’s Jesus’s birthday. And they understand finally that the balls go ON the tree, not off!!! It makes such a difference!
Lastly, I’m completely in love the glow of the Christmas lights in the evening and the deep reds and greens that scatter the house. And it’s so exciting watching the twins take it all in once again. The beautiful moments as they see the lights turn on for the first time, and say ‘Oh wow mum!’, or as they join in wholeheartedly to sing along to Silent Night – the first time they ever heard it. Those moments are so incredible to me.
I actually teared up today, realizing yet again, that they won’t stay this way forever. 🙁 I really wish they could. Lets just hope the next stage is just as magical as right now!
