We have had a full on couple of months! We’ve almost been away more than we have been home! So my plan to blog/document our life and travels has been put on hold.
Until now!!! Muhahah!!!
So this chapter is our couple of days on Stradbroke Island in Queensland, Australia.
Oh Straddie, Straddie, how we love you! I hadn’t been to Stradbroke since I was about 10 so it was like visiting a whole new place. We did a lot of swimming and 4WDing this trip, but my highlight was probably the walk on the headland on the last day.
Pete was very excited to take the car off road for the first time…
The kids enjoyed making sand castles….and by that I mean that I enjoyed making sand castles…
We actually saw a lot of kangaroos. The kids really did love that!
We also enjoyed swimming in a ‘secret’ hidden cove…it’s not really secret, but it is really beautiful. It’s quite small, in between two headlands and is very picturesque. We had to leave one day as a wedding was about to start!
Unfortunately I can’t find the photos from that day, if I do I will upload them. But you can still see the hidden cove in this picture…
Peter and I feel very strongly that Brisbane has been ripped off beach wise….to the south you have the beautiful Gold Coast, to the north, the stunning Sunshine Coast, and poor Brisbane just has muddy, mangrovey swamps. And the reason is because Stradbroke Island is in the way!
Therefore Brisbane’s rightful coastline is Stradbroke!
So just before we had to get the barge home we decided to do a last minute hike around the headland, and isn’t it stunning! If you go to stradbroke, make sure it is one of the first things you do, not the last! Because I would have liked to spend a lot more time there!!!
As you can see, I was very taken with this beautiful gorge!
Sadly, but not surprisingly, there were a few drownings here in the past, which led to some scary signs…but few fences…
There were great lookout points all along the way…
Doesn’t that look like a great place to swim? Not sure I’d be game at high tide…
Well Stradbroke, you are so beautiful! Can’t wait to see you again soon!
Enjoy xx
