Everyone wants their kids to love and be kind to each other. Right? And to not fight…

Our kids, as with all families have absolutely gorgeous, melt your heart kind of moments. They will share their food or toys, help each other up if they fall over, talk and play together and defend each other against other kids. (This can be awesome and a bit scary…should I be cheering on Wally when he snatches a toy of a kid, and gives it back to Tori, when that kid took it off her in the first place?) ?

However, there are those days when they haven’t had enough sleep to think like a logical two year old ?…and they start thinking a little more irrationally…(Yesterday I tried to explain to Tori for about half an hour, why the lego Cinderella doesn’t have any feet or shoes or legs…and why there is a glass lego block with only ONE shoe on it!!!) ?

So although the twins are generally pretty good, sometimes they forget, and when they do, one way I try to teach them is that:

  • they are twins
  • they are brother and sister
  • they are family
  • they love each other and
  • they are best friends…

…and because of all this, they need to be especially kind and loving to each other.

I have been saying these things to them for the past few months, hoping that what they already know in their hearts, will sink into their brains. Muhahaaha! ?

But when I asked Tori the other day ‘Who is your best friend Tori?’

She answered ‘Mummy!’

Although it wasn’t quite the answer i was expecting, it did make me feel pretty dang special. ?

I then asked Wally the same question…

‘Who is your best friend Wally?’

To which he replied ‘Blue’…?

Then Tori took back her answer and said her best friend was yellow. Not even pink?!? What happened to mummy?!?!?

Hmmm….I think I have some more work to do. ?

We then talked about how our whole family, Mummy – Daddy, Daddy – Wally, Wally – Tori, Tori – Mummy, Tori – Daddy and Mummy – Wally are all best friends. It was a bit exhausting, but it was the only way they were happy.

All in all, I think their relationship is the sweetest…

Here is a completely non posed photo that I think sums it up… (I whipped out my phone when I saw it and got it just in time! Yay!)

They were just chatting…but their hands! Right? ?

I hope they stay best friends forever! Or at least very close twin siblings who always have each others backs! ?
